The English Department was delighted to welcome Manchester poet Mike Garry on Wednesday, 7th December to share his poetry with a range of students from Year 7 to Year 13. Mike’s poetry has won wide acclaim, and he delivered a number of exciting, enjoyable and thought-provoking workshops which left students (and teachers!) inspired to pick up the pen and compose a few lines!

Mike’s poetry was accessible, gritty, entertaining and challenging, covering a range of topics which we could all relate to, but which also made us think about important issues that touch as all, and the importance and the power of language to celebrate and console.
