A local cartoonist who has contributed to The Beano and is behind the town’s hugely popular Comicon Festival, has been working with Tytherington School to develop the next generation of artists.

Marc Jackson, from Macclesfield, has been working with Tytherington School giving students at the school the opportunity to develop their cartoon drawing skills.

Students were challenged to draw quickly, create characters and develop four panel comic storyboards. Here’s some quotes from our students.

“This experience was a bit out of the box for me and isn’t as easy as it looks. As I drew I was getting better and had more ideas. Today was definitely fun and I would love to do it again.”

“Before today I believed I wasn’t very confident with art and how to draw. Now I am more confident.”

Manny Botwe, Headteacher, said: “We are delighted to be working with a renowned local artist. It provides an opportunity for our youngsters to do something that is outside the box. As a school rooted in the community, it is great to work with local professionals.”
