Under 30s General Elections Hustings at Tytherington School

The four candidates for the Macclesfield Parliamentary constituency all took part in an Under 30s Hustings held at Tytherington School on Saturday 7th December. Incumbent David Rutley (Conservatives) was joined by James Booth (Green Party), Neil Christian (Liberal Democrats) and Neil Puttick (Labour Party). The candidates faced a range of questions from young people from across the town. The topics covered included: rights of the LGBTQ+ community, mental health support, the environment and Brexit.

Organiser and Tytherington Headteacher said: “We were delighted that so many young people attended and took part in the debate. The candidates conducted themselves extremely well and were very respectful of each other.” Tytherington 6th Former Sami Hatna said; “It was really interesting. It was great to be able to ask questions of the candidates and find out about what they stand for.”
