Well done to the Year 7 5-a-side football team who competed in the Cheshire Finals of the English Schools competition on 15th January. Tytherington faced strong opposition including Knutsford, Helsby, Lymm, Alsager and Bishop Heber who had all won their district competitions to make the county finals. Tytherington started well by beating Lymm 2-0 in their opening game. Alsager were their second opponents. They could only manage a 0-0 draw after a frustrating game where Tytherington were on top for most of the game. Showing an excellent mentality, Tytherington beat both Knutsford and Helsby 3-0. In order for Tytherington to win the competition, they had to play Bishop Heber who were also undefeated in the deciding game. Bishop Heber started strongly and went a goal up in the early stages. However, Tytherington responded quickly and began to dominate the game resulting in a 3-1 win in the final game.

Tytherington were the only school to remain undefeated as well as the top scoring team and the team who conceded the least number of goals throughout the competition. Roll on the next round where Tytherington will compete in the North West finals in Manchester next month.

Players: Jaco Clowes, Kian Lomas, Ethan Bullivent-Hughes, Owen Kirby, Reuben Rogers, Joe Wainwright and Fin Foote.
