Congratulations to Mel Stockdale who is a Teaching Assistant at Tytherington School for her nomination for a prestigious TES Schools Award. Mel Stockdale has been nominated for Schools Environmental Champion of the Year.

Headteacher, Manny Botwe, commented on Mel’s nomination:

“This is a tremendous achievement for the school. We could only nominate one member of staff so I would like to also give a special mention to the work of another teaching assistant Den Masset and Esther Bird in Year 10. Collectively they have spearheaded the “Tythy Goes Green” group which have achieved a great deal in our school including: working with our caterers and senior leadership to ensure that the school removed the sale of plastic water bottles in the school, organising several student groups to deliver assemblies across Macclesfield, arranging a summit in Macclesfield which was attended by the local MP and Michael Gove MP who was the Environment Secretary at the time. They have done a great deal to make Tytherington a greener place.”
