School Re-Opening
23rd February 2021

Dear Families,

I hope you are well. I am sure that you will have seen the Prime Minister’s announcement that schools can re-open from 8th March. As you can imagine, we are excited and look forward to seeing everyone in person.

You will have heard that it is the government’s intention that students are tested before they return to school. I am on a call with the Department of Education tomorrow afternoon so I will find out a bit more information about what we are required to do.  Depending on the logistics, it may be necessary to stagger the return to school across the week, but I will let you know as soon as I can. In the meantime, in the next day or so, we will send home testing consent forms.

The other key element of yesterday’s announcements related to the increased use of face coverings indoors. My initial reading of the guidance is that when schools fully re-open, it will be a requirement to wear face coverings indoors and in lessons until Easter, in the first instance. Again, my understanding is that the Department of Education will update Headteachers on this matter in the next few days. This will also include details of which students and staff will be exempt.

I will update families about the full re-opening of school in Friday’s Headteacher’s Notes.

I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Yours sincerely

Mr Emmanuel Botwe
