COVID-19 Update
27th June 2021
0

Dear Families,

Today I have been informed of two students who have tested positive for COVID-19 having used a lateral flow testing device. The students are in Year 10 and Year 12 and were in school on Friday. The students are now taking a confirmatory PCR test. We expect the results to emerge within the next 24-48 hours.

In order to carry out a full risk assessment and identify all those who have been in close contact with the students, school will be closed to all Year 10 and 12 students on Monday 28th June. We ask that Year 10 and 12 students remain at home as a precaution. When we can be reasonably confident of the students who have been close contacts in school, then we will make contact with those families to advise them of their self-isolation period.

We expect to be in a position to start bringing back students who have been ruled out as close contacts from Tuesday 29th June onwards. You will appreciate that this depends on how the situation unfolds, especially if further positive cases emerge. Please be on the lookout for a message from me at some point on Monday.

Year 10 & 12 Mock Examinations
Years 10 and 12 students are currently taking their end of year examinations. We will postpone the examination sessions which were due to take place tomorrow. Year 10 and 12 families will receive a separate message from Mr Pilbury with an update on when the remainder of the examinations will take place during the course of tomorrow. Students in these year groups should continue to revise for their exams at home. Your teachers will alert you to any additional work via the Firefly platform.

Sixth Form Induction Day
The induction day for Year 11 students going into Sixth Form will go ahead as planned.

What you can do to help
You can help us by ensuring that you test your children every three days. Also, if your child is unwell or not feeling right in any way, please keep them away from school. Should a positive test result emerge then please make contact with the school via e-mail on confirmedcase@tytheringtonschool.co.ukThose who have been identified as close contacts are now being encouraged to go and get a PCR test.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries. Thank you for your patience and support.

Yours sincerely,
Mr Emmanuel Botwe
