COVID-19 Update – Specific Impact on Year 9
4th July 2021
0

Dear Families,

This afternoon I have been informed of two students who have tested positive for COVID-19 having used a lateral flow testing device. The students are in Year 9. They are booked in for confirmatory PCR tests. We expect the results to emerge within the next 24-48 hours.

In order to carry out a full risk assessment and identify all those who have been in close contact with the students, school will be closed to all Year 9 students on Monday 5th July. When we are reasonably confident of the students who have been close contacts in school, we will make contact with those families to advise them of their self-isolation period.

We expect to be in a position to start bringing back students who have been ruled out as close contacts from Tuesday 6th July onwards. You will appreciate that this depends on how the situation unfolds, especially if further positive cases emerge. Please be on the lookout for a message from me at some point on Monday.

Online Live Lessons – message from Mr Pilbury
We carried out checks on Teams this afternoon and have identified a bug in the system that we need to work out before being able to deliver live lessons. Therefore, we will provide the following to allow time for our IT Team to rectify the issue and then go live:

  • On Monday 5th July – Learning activities will be set on FireFly for all Year 9 students. Students should check FireFly for those activities that will be set by teachers during the course of the day.
  • From Tuesday 6th July – Live “hybrid” lessons for those students that are required to continue to isolate will take place. Students should check their Teams calendar for invites to those lessons, and FireFly for any accompanying resources.

What you can do to help
You can help us by ensuring that you test your children every three days. Also, if your child is unwell or not feeling right in any way, please keep them away from school. Should a positive test result emerge then please make contact with the school via e-mail on confirmedcase@tytheringtonschool.co.uk . Those who have been identified as close contacts are now being encouraged to go and get a PCR test.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries. Thank you for your patience and support.

Yours sincerely,
Mr Emmanuel Botwe
