Dear Families,

Re: Partial Opening – Wednesday 16^th February and Thursday 17^th February 2022

As you will be aware, we are continuing to experience significant staffing issues because of the rising number of staff testing positive for covid. At the time of writing, there are 15 members of teaching staff who are not in school owing to a positive covid case.  Teacher supply agencies are also struggling to meet the demands of local schools. Unfortunately, this means that we do not have enough teachers to cover the curriculum for this week.

Given the scenario outlined above, we will have a partial opening on Wednesday and Thursday:

• Wednesday 16^th February – school will be closed to Year 8 students
• Thursday 17^th February – school will be closed to Year 9 and 10 students

Electives will run as normal for years 7 and 8 on Thursday 17^th February.

We have chosen to prioritise face-to-face teaching for our youngest students and those with examinations in the summer.

Work will be set on Firefly. As teachers will be redeployed on these days, online lessons will not be possible for year groups who have been asked to remain at home. If you are unsure of how to access Firefly, please follow the link below:

We will attempt to be back open to all students as normal on Friday. I will confirm whether this will be the case by Thursday evening at the latest.
