RE: COVID Update
25th February 2022

Dear Families,

I hope you are well and have been able to enjoy the half term break. As promised, I am writing to you with details of updated Covid-19 guidance from the Department for Education.

Face coverings

Face coverings are no longer required in school. We still recommend that students wear face coverings on school buses and public transport. If any member of staff and student wishes to continue to wear a face covering in school then this will be permitted.

Action in the event of a positive Covid-19 result

Although the legal requirement to self-isolate has now been removed, students and staff who test positive for Covid-19 are advised to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for at least 5 full days, and then continue to follow the guidance until they have received 2 negative test results on consecutive days.  Please continue to report positive cases to school on confirmedcase@tytheringtonschool.co.uk.

Students and staff who have been in close contact with positive cases of Covid-19 are no longer required to take daily tests for 7 days and contact tracing has now ended.

We will still provide remote education for students who may have been asked to remain at home. Where possible, this will take the form of access to live lessons, otherwise work will be set on Firefly.

Testing

In line with the advice of Cheshire East Public Health, we advise twice weekly testing for staff and students for the first 2 weeks of this half term. After this period, routine testing will be phased out.

Attendance and next steps

After the considerable disruption of the last two academic years, attendance to school has never been more important. Unless your child is at home as a result of testing positive for Covid-19 or is unwell, please do all you can to make sure that your child is in school. Where possible, please make routine medical and dental appointments during the school holidays or out of school hours.

We anticipate a return to face-to-face year group assemblies and meetings in the next two weeks.

As ever, the safety of the school community remains my number one priority so should circumstances alter, I will update you with any changes. Control measures such as good hand hygiene and ventilation will remain in place in school to minimise virus transmission.

I look forward to welcoming back students on Monday 28th February. Thank you in advance for all your support.

Best wishes,

Mr Botwe
