The Tytherington curriculum model
Excellent teaching and learning is at the core of our approach. We provide all our students with a forward looking and rich curriculum which allows them to develop the skills and knowledge required to grasp any opportunities the future may present. Our curriculum encourages students to be articulate, resilient, courageous, curious and have the confidence to stand up for what they believe in.
In Key Stage 3, all students follow a broad curriculum. All students are taught a curriculum involving: English, Maths, Science, Technology (Food, Textiles and Resistant Materials), Modern Foreign Languages (MFL), Art, History, Geography, PE, Computing and RE. We also have a rich transition programme which you can find out about here: http://www.tytheringtonschool.co.uk/year-6-transition-to-tytherington-school-2016/
Personal, Social and Health Education is taught via our ROSE Day programme. ROSE stands for Respect of Others, Self and the Environment.
In Key Stage 4, students continue with the core curriculum of English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Science (either double referred to as the “Trilogy” or separate single sciences) and PE. Students are then able to make up to four option choices. To get an idea about how our choices system works, you may find it useful to look at last year’s Guided Choices booklet. We will update this before Christmas and include new dates for our current Year 9s. Please click here to view the Guided Choices booklet. We also offer a Vocational Academy Programme which involves work experience and the development of work-related skills.
Religious Education and Personal, Social and Health Education is taught via our ROSE Day programme.
