Tytherington School hosted Ben Smith who is on a challenge of a lifetime – to run 401 marathons on consecutive days in 309 different locations across the UK. This would be a world record. He had already completed 223 and Macclesfield was 224 on the list. Ben ran a marathon distance in Macclesfield in January. Ben is aiming to raise £250,000 for Kidscape and Stonewall. He is also talking to youngsters across the country about his inspiring fight against bullying.

Manny Botwe, Headteacher, said; “Ben’s courage is amazing and his story has inspired our youngsters. It was great to have him come and talk to our students and they were in awe of his stories about the mental toughness as well as the practicalities of running 401 consecutive marathons. It is not every day you meet a world record breaker. As a school we are getting behind him and we hope to raise over £1000 for his cause.”

Tytherington School have already raised £250 and Year 7 students, Lilia Almanza-Torres and Sam Dodd, presented Ben with a cheque.

Ben Smith said: “I was delighted to visit Tytherington School and the welcome we received was awesome.”
