Autumn Term 2016/17 Winners

We are pleased to be working with the local Rotary Club to reward students who exemplify the values of Tytherington School. Every term, Heads of Year nominate a student who they feel are great examples of our values of ambitious, heart and community. Many thanks to Mrs Mary Grant and Mr Ray Kramer who is the current President of the local Rotary branch.

Year 7

Susannah Bridgett (7IB) – Nominated by Miss Henshall
My nomination from Year 7 for the Rotary Award is Susannah Bridgett 7IB. She is part of the Advanced Learners group in year 7, and has completely immersed herself in the Tytherington School Community. She has 100% attendance, has gained over 100 house points since September, whilst incurring 0 behaviour points. She is always so willing to give up her time to help others and has become one of the absolute stars of year 7!

She is a very keen and talented sportswoman, she has already represented Tytherington in netball, hockey and football this term. Outside of school, Suzie is a star midfield player for Macclesfield Town ladies FC, she has joined Macclesfield Harriers, where she excels at hurdling and long jump, she also dances at a local club and is involved in the ‘Rookie Lifeguarding Programme’ at Bollington Leisure Centre. Despite having so many extra-curricular commitments, in and outside of school, Suzie manages to expertly balance this with her school work and is a real high achiever, this is down to her excellent organisational skills and pure hard work.

Suzie is always willing to give up her own time to help people out and get involved. She has assisted with a number of events in school; including the Tytherington Christmas Market, Tytherington Primary Sports Festivals. During these events Suzie has demonstrated her lovely caring nature and natural leadership skills. She was selected to represent Tytherington within the Student Parliament and is also involved in the School’s Christmas Pantomime and the Bollington Christmas Pantomime, where she is playing ‘The Pied Piper’.

As her Head of Year, Suzie is someone I have been able to rely upon time and time again, nothing is ever been too much trouble or an inconvenience. She will often respond with “Yes, I can help!”, before I have finished explaining what I am asking her to help with. To add to this, she also has a brilliant sense of humour and a completely positive outlook on life, this makes her a fantastic role model for her peers. She is a true ambassador of Tytherington School and I feel so proud that she is such a big part of the year group and will be an even bigger part of the school community as she goes through school.
If I ever have a daughter, I would be so happy if she grew up to be just like Suzie, she is such a lovely girl and I feel genuinely deserves this award.

Year 8

Lilia Almanza-Torres (8VI) – Nominated by Mrs Sandbach
Lilia is an active member of the Advanced Learners group in Year 8 and recently played a vital role in the recent Royal Horticultural Garden project. She helped her group to design, create and coordinate a 12 week project to design a new innovative garden. Her team won the Pupil Choice award at the Grad Final. In addition, Lilia is an active member of the school community. She represents her year group on the student parliament and is also a part of the school choir. She has taken part in numerous productions since starting at Tytherington. Lilia approaches schoolwork with hard work and enthusiasm and although she can be a quiet and unassuming student, she has demonstrated on numerous occasions a huge amount of compassion and care when working with others. She truly embodies the ROSE qualities of respect for others, self and environment.

Year 9

Alicia Parry (9MC) – Nominated by Mr O’Brien
Alicia is a very caring and altruistic young lady who has shown so many of the values we hold dear as a school. She shows determination and sees past challenges to take herself out of her comfort zone to do things in school that others find so easy.
Alicia has the 3rd highest number of achievement points in the Year group and has gained these by going above and beyond in her lessons and around school, proving her mature attitude on a daily basis. Alicia has also gone out of her way to support other students who find school difficult and has been a fantastic friend to so many, including staff who are always welcomed by her with a huge smile. Every break and lunch she is in Bridges where she has shown herself to be mature and positive to those who also visit. I’ve tried to do my best this year to inspire students in my assemblies and set the year group a challenge to raise money for charity in their forms. Alicia didn’t just accept this, she decided to adapt it to support a cause close to her heart. She carried out independent research to investigate the plight of many animals and a local charity which offers a sanctuary to neglected animals. From this we were able to organise a visit (she made contact with them first) with her friends so that they could tell others about what they had learnt.

Alicia’s unstoppable spirit, superb attitude and mature approach to school is why I believe she deserves it and I would like to nominate her.

Year 10

Holly Brockbank (10LRI) – Nominated by Holley
Holly is a dedicated member of our school community. This year she been involved in the KS3 newsletter as editor and chief organiser of the news team. This is a really important role as she has had to juggle her school work with making sure deadlines are met and our KS3 students are kept up to date with the most pressing news stories of the day. Holly’s ambitions have gone even further as she has been nominated as the Youth advisor to the Mayor of Bollington and will be helping make decisions for her local community that directly influence the young people of her wider community which includes many of her fellow students.

I think this year has really seen Holly come into her own. She is very conscientious, hardworking and a fantastic representative for the school. She is by her actions the very epitome of our school values.

Year 11

Matthew Willis (11BR) – Nominated by Mr Pepper
Matthew is a hardworking, caring, respectful, and extremely helpful pupil whose impact within the Tytherington School community is second to none. His continuous hard work allows him to succeed and deliver exceptional results both within and outside of the classroom environment. Academically he is a very high achieving pupil who works extremely hard to ensure an exceptional level of progress. NOT ONLY IS MATTHEW A MEMBER OF SEVERAL SCHOOL teams, but he has devoted his time to a number of Sport Leaders Programmes where he assists in the delivery of primary festivals (Gymnastics, Tri Golf, Multi Skills, Little Champions, and Indoor Athletics). In ADDITION, Matthew was one of twelve pupils selected to take part in the Tennis Ambassadors Programme. Throughout such events Matthew demonstrates his caring and compassionate nature alongside his enthusiasm and passion for Tytherington School and it is this that allows potential pupils to gain extremely positive and invaluable experiences when visiting the school.

Outside of school Matthew further demonstrates his athletic prowess. He is an outstanding swimmer who competes at county level. This requires a huge amount of commitment and dedication, attending TWO-HOUR training sessions six times a week. Matthew is also a black belt in Jujitsu and has very recently completed his level two coaching qualification in the sport. In ADDITION, Matthew has undertaken his level one swim teacher’s awards, lifesaving qualification and assists his father with rugby coaching.

Matthew not only demonstrates a complete commitment to Tytherington School but has a made an extremely positive impact on the local community. He displays the highest level of commitment and respect for others and his many selfless acts that have impacted upon others without doubt make Matthew a worthy recipient of The Rotary Reward.

Year 12

Tina Naumann – Nominated by Mrs Pugh
Would you at 16 travel on your own to a different country, stay with a family you don’t know and enrol on demanding a-level courses in your second language? Well that’s what Tina has done and I think anyone who has come across Tina since September will have been impressed by her energy, enthusiasm and zeal for life. Tina is a joy to have in the class – she’s managing the massive task of understanding Shakespeare in a language that is not her own incredibly well and without a single complaint. She makes excellent and thoughtful contributions and has a really impressive work ethic. In drama she works exceptionally hard, it is clear that she loves performing and does not let the language barrier hinder her in anyway. She has been instrumental in directing the Elm house pantomime giving up lots of time to support the other year 12s and the cast. She is probably the, most cheerful student in year 12. Aside from how she is IN lessons, Tina will always stop to say hello and have a chat and has quickly made herself a central part of her friendship group.

Year 13

Louis Williams – Nominated by Ms Gannon
Louis is a self-sufficient, confident and ambitious student who exemplifies everything that Tytherington Sixth Form stands for. He is very well focussed on his studies, responds well to feedback and sets himself challenging goals. He’s an exceptional time manager, balancing a very heavy coursework load with commitments to cricket and volunteer work at Windy Way Trust. He displays excellent leadership skills and can always be relied upon to volunteer to promote the school and Sixth Form to parents and prospective parents. On a number of occasions parents have sought be out to praise his professional manner, with one parents initially assuming he was a member of staff.
