On 6th July, Tytherington School took part in a charity football tournament to raise money for a charity called Once Upon A Smile which was set up in 2011 by Emmerdale stars Danny Miller and Daniel Jillings. The charity works with families who have experienced bereavement. Years 7,8 and 9 played against each other and then there was a staff versus 6th form match.

Both Danny Miller and Daniel Jillings played with the pupils and staff in all the matches. The event was organised by year 8 pupil Honor Rowlands, niece of Danny Miller, who will also be taking part in the big challenge over the summer of a 10K run, a bike ride and climbing up Mount Snowden to raise money for the charity.

Danny Miller said: “I’m so proud of Honor for organising this, it’s one of the best school tournaments we’ve been to and the whole school were encouraged to be involved.”

Headteacher, Manny Botwe said: “Honor was absolutely brilliant. She organised the whole day. We are delighted that Danny and Daniel could join us for the day.”
