On Thursday 5th October, Tytherington School welcomed over 100 Grandparents of students in years 7 and 8 for a special afternoon. The Grandchildren in Year 7 & 8 helped serve their grandparents afternoon tea, whilst they listened to a musical performance by Xabier Wilson and Effie Millar in Year 12.

Mr Botwe, Headteacher said: “Community is a core value for us at Tytherington School. It was a great opportunity for staff and students alike to say thank you to the army of grandparents who support us every day. It was great to see the youngsters proudly showing off their school to their grandparents. We were blown away by the number of Grandparents who came. We even had grandparents join us having travelled from Sheffield. Marvellous. We plan to repeat the event for years 9 and above.”

One grandparent commented in a letter to Mr Botwe which stated: “The students were all so well behaved and polite. It bodes well for their future”.

Honor in Year 9 said “it was great to be able to serve afternoon tea to the grandparents.”
